Workshops at the Makit LQ&N Christmas Fair 2022

Embroider with Korry

Loetitia Gibier, aka Korry, is an obsessive embroiderer, teacher and textile artist. City & Guilds qualified and formally a trustee of the Embroiderers Guild. Her work is increasingly gaining recognition internationally and within the UK.

Christmas Gnomes!

Korry has produced three original Christmas Gnomes embroidery designs for the workshop, Kringle, Krangle and Kandy Kane fun designs that you will enjoy making, ideal for a Christmas Tree, table, card or nursery decoration. Each gnome is approximately five inches tall, and you choose the gnome you wish to make on joining the workshop.

The workshop is restricted to a maximum of twelve participants and will start at 11.00 am and finish at 1.30 pm.

The workshop cost £ 25.00, including all materials.

We provide:

The background fabric, generous quantities of Madeira Lana thread in five colours, four different colours of felt, white Chenille thread, needles, comprehensive instructions, templates and an 8 x 5-inch oval hoop on which to work your chosen design and to use as a frame when finished.

We ask you to bring to the workshop:

A small pair of embroidery scissors and a scissor suitable for cutting out the paper templates.

A Rotary Cutting Masterclass with Joy Edgington

An avid textile crafter embracing crochet, cross stitch, hand and machine embroidery, patchwork and quilting with over thirty-five years experience. Joy is City and Guild’s qualified and a recognized tutor. In 2011 she established Posturers New Quilting allowing her to share her knowledge by providing the beginner with the opportunity to learn at their own pace new techniques in a supported environment.

Introduced in 1979 the rotary cutter has revolutionised the way in which we cut fabrics for patchwork, dressmaking and tailoring.

However, for many people, using this essential piece of equipment fills them with dread. Joy will show you –

How to use it safely.
Which rotary cutter is best for them or the job in hand?
How to use it to the best advantage.
How to change a blade.
How to use it if you are left-handed.

Olfa cutters, boards and fabrics are provided

Two courses are offered:

1 commencing at 11.00 am
2 commencing at 2.00 pm

The duration of each course is approximately one hour and is restricted to a maximum of 8 persons.

The cost of each course is £10.00
