Embroiderers Guild Eastern Region to launch a new branch for West Suffolk

West Suffolk branch of the Embroiderers Guild

At a packed meeting on the 24th September at Hallstead Village Hall it was decided to establish a West Suffolk branch of the Embroiderers Guild with Mary McIntosh as the Chairman elect.

The inaugural meeting of the new branch will take place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 5th November 2015 at Risby Village Hall, Aylmer Close, Risby, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP28 6RT. Its easy to find just off junction 41 of the A14

If you are looking to extend your interest in textile arts and crafts, make new connections, share your interests and knowledge with other likeminded people come along and join us on the 5 th of November you will be very welcome

Information/launch evening Suffolk West Embroiderers

An exciting programme for the coming year has been proposed for Suffolk West Embroiderers

Proposed 2015 and 2016 Programme

November 5th 2015
Enrolment of Members and introduction to the Chair and Secretary, their work and interests. Confirmation of other nominated Committee members and discussion on how the branch will work led by branch Chair elect Mary McIntosh

December 3rd
Practical session to prepare for Travelling Books initiative and work first sample. Gain agreement from small number of members to participate in month 5 presentations (see below)

January 7th 2016
A History of Embroidery and the Embroiderers Guild referenced to the EG collection and displayed examples led by Lesley Jones

February 4th
Practical Session on work for the Capability Brown Exhibition 2016.

March 3rd
My Textile Journey
Two or three members give short presentations on how they came to love and work in textiles and how their work has developed; bringing along examples of their work to display.

Between months March and April plan for a one day workshop to be tutored by Annette Morgan

April 7th
Practical sewing session and exchange of ideas e.g. reviewing branch activity so far, getting ideas for speakers, forward planning etc.

May 5th
Branch Chair’s chosen topic and Demonstration.

June 2nd
Speaker event / mini workshop with Pauline Verrinder

July 7th and September 1st to be confirmed depending on views/ interests of group

Between months September and October plan for second one day workshop to be tutored by Sue Leonard.

October 6th
Social Event or outing

November 3rd – FIRST FORMAL AGM
