Created by craft enthusiasts for craft enthusiasts
Having been textile craft enthusiasts and suppliers for more years than we care to count, we've seen the good, bad and the indifferent when it comes to craft fairs. We decided to set up an annual programme of Makit Fairs based on our experiences on both sides of the table because we understand first-hand what both crafters and suppliers want.
We know that – as a textile craft enthusiast – you probably find the materials, tools and accessories that you need to practice your favourite craft from lots of different sources.
Scouring through magazines, websites and forums to find the best supplier for your needs can be time-consuming and might even slow down your latest project. Delivery charges can bump up the costs and then, of course, you have to wait for your order to arrive. You may also have to buy based on a small picture of a product without getting a real sense of it will be like to work with.
All your textile craft supplies under one roof
We created Makit Fairs to simplify this process for you, bringing together everything you might need as a textile craft enthusiast under one roof so that you can spend less time sourcing supplies and more time crafting.
- Spend less time sourcing supplies and more time crafting
- See your purchases before you buy
- Enjoy an inclusive environment for suppliers, experts and enthusiasts
- High quality, easy access venues
- More product choices, more exhibitions and more displays
You’ll love the range of supplies available at a Makit Fair, where stall after stall of specialist products for needlecraft, quilting, lacemaking, embroidery and other textile crafts is laid out before you like a banquet. Although shopping online is fantastic, attending a Makit Fair gives you the opportunity to see your purchases before you buy and ask the knowledgeable suppliers any questions you may have.
Discover new crafts
Many of our visitors also tell us that they love being able to find out more about new crafts, as well as spending time with fellow crafters.
Textile crafts in the UK have a rich and vibrant history, and the diversity of the textile craft community reflects this. From enthusiastic beginners to skilled life-long hobbyists and kitchen table start-ups to fully fledged businesses, the creativity and knowledge within this community is breath-taking and is something we are passionate about nurturing.
Something for everyone
Makit Fairs provide an inclusive environment for suppliers, experts and enthusiasts to come together, and each fair offers something for everyone. As a family of textile craft enthusiasts with a professional background in the textiles industry, we have plenty of experience of organising and attending fairs in the UK and across the world, and we use this expertise to make sure that every fair offers a fantastic family day out.
Each Makit Fair takes place in a high quality, easy access venue. We're always looking at bringing you the best range of product choices, more exhibitions and more displays where you can talk to the professionals. In 2018, we are launching a number of Make & Take spaces at each event where you can make small taster kits to try before you buy.
A great day out for all ages
If you’re mad about needlework, lacemaking, quilting or any other textile craft, come along to one of our brilliant family events and join us for a celebration of this broad and delightful craft subject – ‘Textiles’ – in whatever form.
See you there!
